THINGS TO DO

Come and

live the experience

There is plenty to do both on & off the Island.

Our top six  choices "to do"on the Island are shown on the right - but for day trips further afield you may like to consider the following (and remember we will be happy to help with planning any excursions)

The world heritage town of Olinda is a architectural & cultural delight - walking shoes are needed as the town is hilly, but views from the top are amazing and there are plenty of places to enjoy a refreshing cold beer.

Recife , the capital of Brazil’s northeastern state of Pernambuco, is distinguished by its many rivers, bridges, islets and peninsulas. Recife Antigo, on its own island by the harbour, is the historic old town center dating to the 16th century. To its south, popular Boa Viagem Beach is sheltered by reefs and lined by tall apartment blocks, modern hotels and restaurants.

Pipa Beach is one of the most famous beaches of Brazil, with a chilled out vibe.  Approximately 3 hours drive from Ilha de Itamaracá, a visit to Dolphin Bay is not to be missed to swim with the wild dolphins.

Forte Orange

Any Brazilian will know Itamaraca because of Forte Orange.   Built by the Dutch in 1631 to protect their domain from invading forces.  The Portuguese destroyed the Dutch fort when they took over in 1654.  However, the location was so unique that they created a new fort in stone on the site, which still stands today
